Polyurethane foam injection is a less invasive method typically used for lifting non-structural concrete slabs, such as driveways, patios, or interior floors, that have settled between 1 and 3 inches. However, there are critical limitations to consider:

  • Structural Support: While foam can lift a slab, it does not address the root cause of soil instability. For foundation walls or heavy structural loads, the load bearing capacity of helical piers or steel push piers is required to provide a permanent solution. These steel systems transfer the home’s weight deep past unstable surface soils to competent strata or bedrock.
  • Soil Conditions: In reactive clay soils, foam may be susceptible to moisture degradation over time, whereas steel piers offer long-term reliability for the life of the structure.
